» Cindy McGlynn - Deepah Mehta's "Water"

Anyone interested in this topic should see Deepah Mehta's recent award-winning film "Water." It's a visually stunning and deeply moving account of widows in India at around the time of Mahatma Gandhi -- and yes, there are plenty of scenes revolving around food, particularly food the women cannot eat. I was not aware of the complex web of alimentary restrictions for these women and the significance.

Hi Cindy,

Thank you for the suggestion!

It sounds like Water is as controversial as Mehta's Fire.
