» ssghosh - nursery rhymes promote outdated values
Nursery rhymes are mostly sung to sooth a child to sleep or to teach them to sing. These songs bring back the memories of one's childhood and the affection one received from family members. Some of these are nonsense rhymes and carry very little or no meaning and children sing them just for fun without trying to find out the true meaning. Some reflect the traditions of a society or culture at a particular time in history. Will it be fair to discard nursery rhymes because they promote outdated values?-- posted by ssghosh
